Course Rating5/5

Lua programming training introduces developers to this lightweight, fast, and flexible scripting language, often used for game development and embedded systems. Participants learn the basics of Lua syntax, including variables, loops, functions, and tables, which serve as the language’s primary data structure. The course covers advanced topics such as metatables, garbage collection, and the use of Lua for integrating with C/C++ applications. Learners also explore how to extend Lua with libraries and use it for tasks like scripting game logic, automation, and configuration management. By the end of the training, participants will be capable of using Lua to develop efficient, scalable, and maintainable scripts for a variety of applications.

Basic understanding of programming concepts (variables, loops, functions, etc.)
Familiarity with at least one programming language (helpful but not mandatory)

Upon completing the Lua Programming course, participants will:

Gain a solid understanding of Lua syntax and structure.
Be able to write, debug, and optimize Lua scripts for various applications.
Learn to integrate Lua with other applications and systems.
Understand advanced Lua features such as metatables, coroutines, and table manipulation.

What Skills It Will Add

Lua Syntax and Basics: Proficiency in writing Lua scripts, handling variables, data types, and operators.
Control Structures: Ability to use conditional statements, loops, and error handling in Lua.
Functions and Modules: Skills to define functions, pass arguments, and create reusable code with Lua modules.
Data Structures: Understanding how to work with tables, arrays, and lists in Lua.
Advanced Lua Features: Expertise in using metatables, coroutines, and Lua’s powerful standard libraries.
Lua Integration: Ability to integrate Lua with external applications and frameworks for scripting.

Participants will be assessed on:

Basic Syntax and Data Structures: Knowledge of Lua syntax, variables, and working with tables.
Control Flow and Functions: Ability to implement loops, conditionals, and functions in Lua.
Advanced Features: Understanding and usage of metatables, coroutines, and advanced data manipulation.
Lua Scripting in Applications: Capability to write Lua scripts for real-world problems and integrate them into applications.

Certificate of Completion: Participants who attend all sessions and successfully complete the course assessments will receive a ProgNXT Certificate of Completion for the Lua Programming course.
