Scala programming training introduces developers to this versatile language, combining object-oriented and functional programming paradigms. The course covers foundational concepts like data types, control structures, and collections, along with advanced features such as pattern matching, immutability, and higher-order functions. Participants will also learn about Scala's powerful type system, traits, and its seamless interoperability with Java for enterprise-level development. Practical sessions include building scalable applications, working with the Akka toolkit for concurrent programming, and utilizing Spark for big data processing. By the end of the training, developers will be proficient in writing clean, efficient, and scalable code using Scala.
Introduction to Scala and Core Concepts Overview of Scala Introduction to Scala, its history, and use cases. Understanding Scala’s position between object-oriented and functional programming. Setting up Scala environment with sbt (Scala Build Tool). Practical exercise Scala Syntax and Data Types Basic syntax: Variables, expressions, and statements. Data types: Int, String, Boolean, and custom types. Control structures: If-else, loops, pattern matching. Practical exercise Functional Programming in Scala Immutability and pure functions. First-class functions and higher-order functions. Working with collections (List, Set, Map, etc.). Practical exercise Classes, Objects, and Traits Defining classes and objects in Scala. Constructor parameters, primary and secondary constructors. Traits and their use for mixin composition. Practical exercise Advanced Scala Features and Concurrency Pattern Matching and Advanced Collections Pattern matching: Using match expressions for conditional logic. Advanced collections: Sequences, tuples, Option, Try, and Future. Practical exercise Concurrency in Scala Futures and Promises for asynchronous programming. Introduction to Akka: Actor-based concurrency model in Scala. Managing concurrency with Scala’s concurrency libraries. Practical exercise Interoperability with Java Calling Java code from Scala and vice versa. Using Java libraries in Scala applications. Practical exercise Scala Best Practices and Performance Coding standards and best practices for Scala development. Optimizing performance in Scala applications. Practical exercise
