Minikube training introduces learners to the basics of setting up and managing a local Kubernetes cluster for development and testing. Participants learn how to install Minikube, create Kubernetes resources, and deploy containerized applications in a local environment. The training emphasizes hands-on exercises in configuring Minikube settings, exploring Kubernetes features, and debugging cluster issues. Advanced topics such as integrating Minikube with CI/CD pipelines and working with add-ons are also covered. This training is ideal for developers, DevOps professionals, and Kubernetes beginners seeking a practical understanding of Kubernetes in a lightweight and accessible setup.
Introduction to Minikube and Kubernetes Basics Introduction to Kubernetes and Minikube Overview of Kubernetes architecture (nodes, pods, deployments, services). Introduction to Minikube: What it is, how it works, and why use it for local Kubernetes clusters. Installing Minikube on Linux, Windows, and macOS. Setting up and configuring Minikube. Hands-on exercise Understanding Kubernetes Architecture Core components: Pods, nodes, services, and deployments. Understanding kubectl and its role in interacting with Kubernetes clusters. Introduction to Minikube dashboard for managing Kubernetes resources. Hands-on exercise Managing and Interacting with Minikube Starting, stopping, and restarting Minikube clusters. Checking Minikube status and cluster health. Switching between different Minikube clusters. Hands-on exercise Deploying and Managing Applications on Minikube Deploying Applications on Minikube Creating Kubernetes deployments and pods with YAML files. Exposing applications through Kubernetes services (ClusterIP, NodePort, LoadBalancer). Managing application lifecycles: Scaling and updating deployments. Hands-on exercise Monitoring and Troubleshooting Minikube Clusters Using kubectl to monitor the health and status of resources. Troubleshooting common issues (pods not starting, application not responding). Understanding and using Minikube logs for diagnostics. Hands-on exercise Working with Persistent Storage on Minikube Introduction to persistent volumes and persistent volume claims in Kubernetes. Using Minikube to simulate persistent storage for applications. Hands-on exercise Advanced Minikube Features (Optional) Introduction to Minikube add-ons (e.g., Ingress controller, metrics server). Enabling and using advanced Minikube features. Hands-on exercise
