Kotlin training equips developers with the skills to build modern, concise, and safe applications for Android and JVM-based environments. Participants learn the fundamentals of Kotlin syntax, including variables, control flow, functions, and object-oriented principles like classes and inheritance. The course covers advanced topics such as higher-order functions, coroutines for asynchronous programming, and integrating Kotlin with Android Studio to develop Android apps. Learners also explore Kotlin’s interoperability with Java, making it easy to migrate existing Java projects to Kotlin. By the end of the training, participants will be able to develop efficient and scalable applications using Kotlin, enhancing both productivity and performance.
Introduction to Kotlin and Basic Concepts Introduction to Kotlin Overview of Kotlin and its advantages over Java. Setting up Kotlin in IntelliJ IDEA or Android Studio. Exploring Kotlin's syntax and first "Hello, World!" program. Kotlin Data Types and Variables Understanding Kotlin’s data types: Int, String, Boolean, etc. Working with variables: val (immutable) and var (mutable). Control flow: if, when, for, while. Practical exercise Functions in Kotlin Defining functions and using return types. Default arguments, named arguments, and variable-length arguments. Higher-order functions and lambdas in Kotlin. Practical exercise Advanced Kotlin Concepts and Android Development Object-Oriented Programming in Kotlin Classes and objects in Kotlin. Inheritance and interfaces in Kotlin. Data classes and sealed classes. Practical exercise Functional Programming in Kotlin Introduction to immutability and pure functions. Using Kotlin’s functional programming features: lambdas, map/filter/reduce. Practical exercise Kotlin for Android Development Overview of Android development with Kotlin. Working with activities, views, and layouts in Android using Kotlin. Introduction to Android APIs: handling user input and displaying results. Practical exercise Kotlin and Java Interoperability Interoperating Kotlin with Java: how to call Kotlin code from Java and vice versa. Working with Java libraries in Kotlin. Practical exercise
